Why did you pick this furniture piece?

Oupa’s klokkie is a very important piece that means a lot to us all because it was something that is around from generation to generation

Explain what this furniture piece means to you or your family/friends?

This klokkie means a lot to our family as it was the first thing that my Oupa would talk about when new people would come as this was a piece passed on from generation to generation. This klokkie use to “ly” every single day at 6am which is what woke my Oupa up

This klokkie use to “ly” every single day at 6am which is what woke my Oupa up for his morning tea and stukkie bread with butter and cheese.

How does this piece of furniture make you feel?

It makes me feel happy with emotion of sadness as well as my Oupa did maniengal

Do you think this piece of furniture represents us as Coloureds? Why?

Most definitely as this piece is in a lot of our homes and our grandparents would keep these antique pieces of furniture and treat them like gold

We are a family. We are ONE. We stick up for one another always

Confusing. Some people treat us unfairly and think little of us as Coloureds
